Food

The Food Hub is a coalition of partners who support connecting people to immediate food resources and other cash equivalents such as Basic Food (formerly food stamps) or locally grown produce to supplement a household’s income.

These partners create a food system linking low-income people to donated food (Food Banks), grocery store subsidies (Basic Food debit cards) and community gardens. Hub partners promote education and training on nutrition, how to garden, cooking from scratch and other best practices so that low-income people can effectively manage their household budgets with greater self-reliance over time. The Coalition recognizes that the Food Bank is one of our largest access points serving 39,000 low income individuals per year and is a very effective place in which to introduce asset building resources.
